Cryo-Compressed Hydrogen refers to a method of storing and transporting hydrogen gas by cooling it to cryogenic temperatures while simultaneously applying high pressure. This combined technique allows for the densification of hydrogen, making it more efficient to store and move compared to either cryogenic storage or compression alone. In this method, hydrogen is typically cooled to temperatures below -253 degrees Celsius, at which point it becomes a low-density liquid, and then pressurized to further increase its density. This approach is often considered for applications in fuel cells and hydrogen-powered vehicles, as it facilitates higher energy density and more efficient storage solutions. Cryo-compressed hydrogen seeks to optimize the balance between storage pressure, temperature, and volume to enable practical and economical use of hydrogen as a clean energy carrier.
